    💪 The Science of Fitness: Separating Fact from Fiction Here’s the truth about your fitness journey… Hey Ann, When I first started Built With Science, I needed to figure out how to attract potential members. After all, we can have the greatest fitness program on earth but if no one uses it… I started where many people do when they want to gain knowledge about something. The Internet. I soon realized the prevailing advice was, “promise great results, in a short amount of time, with little effort.” Statements like: "Get a six pack in 14 days doing this weird exercise 5 minutes a day." "Burn 2 pounds of stubborn fat daily while watching TV." Now I’d be the first to admit I wish these things were true. But I know they aren’t. And deep down, you know they aren’t true. That’s why you’re reading this. So here at BWS we made the decision to swim against the current and tell the truth. It’s going to take work. It will take longer than you want it to. You may fall down - get back up. You may think about quitting - don’t. I know these statements don’t scare you because you’re the kind of person that is willing to embrace reality. I recently listened to an interview with one of our 2-on-1 coaching members, Keshant. Keshant had been working with a personal trainer for about two years when he enrolled in the 2-on-1 coaching program. Why did he make the switch? Because he was at a point in his journey where the advice he was getting wasn’t making sense AND it wasn’t working. But Keshant said something that caught my attention. He said he had false expectations from all the, “get it quick with no effort” he saw on the internet. This is important because Keshant had been working for two years with a personal trainer and was in good shape when he enrolled in the 2-on-1 program. Yet he was still subject to all the "get it quick with no effort hype" - because it is so prevalent in the fitness world. Keshant wanted to get to next level with his physique. So his coach and dietitian went to work to design a plan to get him to his goals. But it took almost three months on the program to move the needle. He could have gotten discouraged and given up because it was taking too long. But he didn’t. And in his third month of applying a scientific process, he started seeing the results he wanted. He had effectively forced his body to respond. And that brings me to a harsh reality. To experience these type of results: You must first get started. You must apply yourself daily. It will take time and effort. You must not give up. If you apply yourself to a program scientifically proven to work, and refuse to quit, you will get results that can last a lifetime.
