One thing that came up a lot as I chatted with stylists and media was the importance of a killer “third piece” for warm weather and summer evenings. Once you’ve got a pant/short and a shirt, what’s that last step that can really pull an outfit together. Here are three that raised eyebrows in New York – one of which have recently received an Editor’s Choice Award. These versatile players will earn their keep in your wardrobe, elevating outfits all year round. Men's Health's "Summer Shacket" Editor's Pick CHECK OUT THE SEVILLA LONG-SLEEVE Perhaps no piece is more associated with Y.Chroma than the Sevilla Shirt. It was our first "big hit". Men's Health recently celebrated the long-sleeve version as their Editor's Choice for best "summer shacket", and you can see why. It works open-buttoned when it's still hot to keep the sun off, and keeps you warm when the temp drops. Hand-crochet Is A Long-term Trend SEE THE GRAND PRIX Hand-knit is "in", both for Brad Pitt and the cool dude at the office. This tend is here to stay. The square knot race flag pattern provides a body-flattering structure. Each garment is a marvel of artisan technique, painstakingly knotted inch by inch over days. Each piece has the heft of quality – nearly 2 pounds of Italian mercerised bio-cotton yarn. Wear it with a shirt underneath, or on bare skin for a sophisticated après-pool look with a swim suit. Either way, you know you're wearing something special. (Literally. We only made 100 pieces!) A Smart Safari Shirt is a Hot-weather Urban Classic SEE OUR SAFARI SHIRT Yves St. Laurent in Morocco. Roger Moore in Hong Kong. If these references of masculine cool don't move the needle for you, you're reading the wrong guy's newsletter. We drew heavily from these two greats' aesthetics when we designed our version -- the Lagos Safari Shirt. It's an excellent piece, which has the benefit of looking great on top of a linen tropical weight Henley or by itself. Pair it with white denim to really raise the temp this summer. PS. Here's me trying my best to channel the Great YSL in Marrakech a few months ago.
