Getting stranded is something that will happen to almost every cyclist at some point in their life. You might get stranded because of a mechanical, a crash, or just bonking really badly. So what do you do when you're in the middle of nowhere with no easy way to get home?
Usually, your best options are to call for rescue, hitchhike, or walk home. In my cycling career, I've done all three. We provide some basic tips just in case it happens to you and our riders tell some "fun" stories from when they've been stranded (or almost stranded) on a bike.
There's no ideal way to extricate yourself after getting stranded, but it's good to have a basic idea of what you would do in these situations. If you have tips or stories of your own, be sure to share! Hopefully, we never need to use this knowledge, but it's worth knowing.
