A couple of weeks ago, we got hit with a snowstorm. While I was bummed I couldn't ride outside, I was sort of excited to get my trainer dungeon set back up.
These days, I enjoy riding the trainer in the winter. It's convenient, it keeps me sane, and it improves my fitness. But this wasn't always the case. I used to HATE it! Then, during the pandemic, getting on a trainer became the only way for me to ride while my kid was stuck at home.
At the time, TPC was sponsoring a pro eRacing team (yes, that's a thing), so I chatted with its founder, Matt Gardiner, to find out what gear hardcore Zwift racers rely on to make riding inside actually feel enjoyable.
If you're building a trainer dungeon, we cover the 5 most useful pieces of gear (spoiler: you'll need a trainer) plus some nice extras that can really improve the indoor riding experience. If you've already built your perfect trainer dungeon, show us your setup!
