Is tech from a bygone era making a comeback? Bikes Sell // Trade Magazine The Seven 622 SLX: A Bit Retro, but Also Futuristic We see a lot of carbon bikes here. We see plenty of titanium bikes too. But we don't see many bikes that mix the two materials the way this 2020 Seven 622 SLX road bike does. The frame is built from carbon tubes that are bonded into titanium lugs. It's an old technique from a time when builders were still experimenting with how to make carbon frames. Most abandoned it, but Seven stuck with it and became the master of building in this style. Its bikes are beautiful, light, stiff, and ideal for riders who crave customization. Interestingly, lugged carbon frames have been showing up recently in a completely different discipline: downhill mountain biking. It makes me wonder if lugged carbon/Ti might make a comeback.
