A Letter From Our Founder

Sent: Feb 16, 2024
The cold and flu bugs caught up with me, as they do with so many people this time of year. To be honest, I feel like I’ve been sick off and on for a month!

You might think I would be tired of soup (people ask me all the time!). But even for me, soup never gets old. It still delivers the same nostalgia, comfort, and feeling “cared for” as it always has.

Soup may be an at-home remedy, but if you research it, there’s real science behind it, too! Broth offers much-needed hydration. Heat soothes throats and eases congestion. Carbs, protein, and nutrients offer energy. And it’s all easy on the stomach.

Still, I find the greatest comfort in soup because it reminds me of home. I look back on days when my mom brought a mug to my childhood bedroom. And I feel nostalgic now when my husband brings me some soup from the Spoonful kitchens (thanks, Honey).

From the number of Get Well care packages we’ve seen lately, we know cold and flu season is in full swing. More importantly, so is comfort. When people are giving hands-on care at home or sending warm wishes far away, we all feel a little better for it.

Hoping you and yours feel well—and feel cared for,
    Marti
