In 1980, I left my family’s furniture business to begin Room & Board. I had a vision for what I wanted this company to be. It was simple and very personal. I wanted to sell only products I was proud of and would buy myself, treat customers the way I would treat my friends and work with positive people I respect.

This vision ultimately turned into the Room & Board you know today. It continues to be the vision I want to preserve for the future. With that in mind, I’m pleased to share Room & Board is now 100% employee owned.

Becoming an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) gives our incredible team ownership interest in our success. It also ensures our culture of outstanding service, U.S. craftsmanship and sustainable practices will be carried forward by the people who helped me create it.

Room & Board has over 1,100 staff members, from our Minneapolis headquarters to our stores and delivery centers nationwide. We also help employ an estimated 12,000 people across the U.S. through our manufacturing partners. When you shop with us, you’re not only investing in furniture but also in this community.
