Raising food naturally and sharing the experience has been a strong and growing commitment throughout the farm’s history, since 1991. Through production and education Moon In The Pond maintains a strong focus on the elegant integration of historic and modern technologies. Farmer Dominic Palumbo aims to make access to nutritious and sustainable food quick and easy for people. He’s inviting people to rediscover their agricultural roots with great farm meats, heirloom vegetables, and other produce. Moon in the Pond carries out a mission to educate by offering tours of the farm and opportunities to participate in short or longer-term workshops, internships, and programs. This small, diverse, eco-agriculture farm produces clean food with a commitment to permaculture and organic principles. They draw on traditional and modern knowledge and demonstrate the skills and techniques of ecological local food production. The mission is multiplied by working with individuals and groups to teach the value and cultural necessity of sustainable farming and vital rural agricultural communities. The relationship of people to nature is constantly explored in a myriad of ways that includes animals, crops, self-sufficiency, sustainability, permaculture, ecology, conservation of heirloom vegetable varieties and seeds, conservation of historic livestock, and traditional and modern farming techniques; all while working at filling the needs of today’s culture and society. At the heart of serving the community’s food needs is a pledge to raise all heritage breed animals for meat and only heirloom vegetables. They produce eggs, honey, fruit and more. Produce is sold locally, directly to families, partly through their CSA program (Community Supported Agriculture), at the farm, and at local farmers’ markets. PROJECTS & CHALLENGES Although Moon in the Pond is producing food, their ultimate goal is to provide education and harvest a crop of new farmers who will adopt the principles of clean, locally produced food. As they say, "New farms need new farmers!" So, Moon in the Pond Farm employs a myriad of methods to educate people and produce new farmers. In addition to offering tours to individuals and school groups, the farm invites Appalachian Trail hikers to work a shift in exchange for camping, facilities and three home-cooked farm meals. Aspiring farmers are invited to apply for short- and long-term programs like apprenticeships, internships, and regular volunteer programs. Armed with the knowledge and skills learned at Moon in the Pond, these new farmers are enabled to begin their careers on a foundation of sustainability, diversity, and community-minded food production. "Good food and a clean environment require organic farms and farmers. Farmers need communities that support them. If we hope to have farmers and supportive communities, we need educational farms like Moon In The Pond. The vibrant active farms of a vital rural culture, the farms of our grandparents (and great grandparents going back 10 thousand years) filled that need and sustained our world. We continue that powerful tradition. At Moon In The Pond we’re fighting for a better planet, and a culture that understands the enormous power of working in harmony with nature. We commit to grow much more than just good food, we commit to grow a better future." –Farmer Dom Free Domestic Shipping ✦ Quality Guarantee ✦ 30-Day Return Policy Free Domestic ShippingQuality Guarantee30-Day Return Policy MY ACCOUNT LOGIN INFUSIAST REWARDS DOWNLOAD THE APP FIND YOUR IDEAL TEA MY PERSONAL SHOP PRESS FEATURES Images and information made available by Moon in the Pond Farm.
