CLICK, CLICK, CLICK See a flower, share a flower? Yes, please. Even more than we love making 'em for you, we really love seeing when y'all share the Farmgirl bouquets you receive on your feeds and FYPs. And to make sure your stems are extra ready for their close up, we're sharing some of our favorite pro tips and tricks below for making your photo finish as photogenic as possible!
NATURAL LIGHT That soft, yellow task light you read your murder mysteries below come nighttime may set the perfect mood for when your detective du jour is summing up the case, but it can muddy the water colors of your new #fgflove when you go to grab a thank you pic for your sender. Your best bet? Move to a brighter window that gets plenty of indirect sun and grab a snapshot there! We always find flowers look their best under the same light they were grown in. GIVE IT A ZHUZSH All the TLC we give our bouquets to make sure they make it from Point A to Point Y-O-U safely can leave the whimsical bits and foliage we think make a Farmgirl bouquet feel Farmgirl looking a little compressed. Before you set up your shot, add a little air back into the design by gently putting your fingers into the arrangement and directing the stems up and out! If youโ€™re putting your bouquet into a vase before you start snapping away, this step is even easier. Release the tie that secured the flowers in transit and give your bouquet a little room to bloom.
Pro tip: we love moving one or two of your favorite focal flowers (for us thatโ€™s roses, anemones, or ranunculus) to the front so your bouquet is extra ready for its close up.
PORTRAIT MODE (or no?) First and foremost, itโ€™s your photo - and bouquet - always start with what feels right (and looks prettiest) to you! That said, at Farmgirl we usually stick to regular photo mode for taking wider shots that have some negative space around the arrangement. Alternatively, we like to use portrait mode for those super, wanna-see-every-detail-of-that-anemoneโ€™s-dark-center, close ups. We make exceptions, of course, but the finer details of the foliage can get a little lost and even look blurry in the edges of a wider, portrait mode photograph. And when youโ€™re as persnickety as we are when we choose the mix of eucalyptus, ruscus and other varieties that er build our bouquets with, we donโ€™t want a single stem getting lost to the lens. Ready? Set?! Start snapping! Or need some fresh subject matter for a shoot of your own? Weโ€™ve got you covered there, too.
