Dear Sharkies,
I’m writing to you today to share some news from the BlackMilk team. I know many of you may have been wondering what’s next for BlackMilk following the passing of jL, our beloved founder, earlier this year. James’s wife, Linda Lillis has been our CEO for the last few years. After much reflection, she has decided it’s time for her to step down from this role and focus on her and her daughters. She will remain a part of the brand and transition to a board style role. She has asked me to step into the CEO role. I’ve been a part of the BlackMilk team for the last 11 years and worked very closely with both James and Linda through that time, most recently as COO.
As I step into this new role, I am filled with a mix of emotions. I am deeply honoured to lead a brand that means so much to all of us. I also feel that deep sense of obligation that jL often spoke of, you’ve placed your trust in us, and we don’t want to let you down.
jL was more than just a visionary designer; he was the heart and soul of BlackMilk. His passion for creating fun, unique, and fierce clothing was only surpassed by his love for this incredible community. He saw each of you as an essential part of the BlackMilk story. Your creativity, passion, and unwavering support have always been the driving force behind why we do what we do.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the profound impact you’ve had on this brand. You are not just customers; you are our inspiration and our family. Your passion and loyalty have helped shape BlackMilk into the vibrant, bold, and unapologetically unique brand it is today.
I am committed to honouring jL’s vision. BlackMilk will continue to be a brand that celebrates individuality, creativity, and fearlessness. We will stay true to the core DNA that jL so passionately championed. Expect more of the unique and playful designs you love, crafted with the same dedication and attention to detail that jL instilled in us.
We are looking forward to strengthening and growing our community. Together, we will continue to push boundaries, break conventions, and celebrate our individuality.
Thank you for being such an integral part of BlackMilk. Your support means the world to us, and I am grateful to continue this journey with you. Let’s keep making magic together and dare to be ourselves, unapologetically.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Jackie Kruger
